Holy Crap! A Buffy movie without Whedon?!

That Buffy movie could be happening — it just might be happening without Joss Whedon and be based on the original Buffy movie starring Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry and Peewee Herman.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Fran Kuzui, the original producer/director is in talks with Vertigo Studios about the project. How could this happen without Joss Whedon’s involvement? Well Fran Kuzui bought the screenplay from the then unknown Whedon and she has owned the rights ever since. Kuzui received executive producer credit on the Buffy and Angel TV series.
I can now say definitively kids, there will be a Buffy movie, but it won’t be what you wanted.
Joss Whedon shoots down the Buffy rumors

Joss Whedon himself has shot down the Buffy movie rumors.
“Not gonna happen,” Whedon told reporters in Hollywood on Wednesday. “Not gonna happen. Until I gather the press and make a public announcement myself that it’s going to happen, never believe anything.”
Buck up, kiddies. There’s always the Buffy comics.

Do you miss Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Want something to look at besides your old Buffy DVDs and Kristy Swanson as the uber-hot slayer in the otherwise dumb Buffy movie? Well the rumor is that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in talks for a Buffy movie. No word on Joss Whedon’s involvement, but I imagine he would have to be involved for this to happen.
