Thirst remake in works
May 20th
Hollywood studios are competing for the rights to Park Chan-Wook’s “Thirst” — and it hasn’t even premiered at Cannes yet.
True vampires are hot, and Park is among the hottest filmmakers in Korea with his great films, Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr, Vengeance, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance already in the remake pipeline. Park’s involvement in the reamkes is minimal to non-existent. He told Variety, “I want them to treat my films as if they were books and I was an 18th century writer who has long been dead.”
Thirst US release plans
May 7th
Park Chan-Wook’s Thirst will get a limited theatrical release in July, and if it performs well will get wider release. I can’t wait for this one.
If thirst shows up in your town go see it. Tell your friends to go see it. In the meantime watch Old Boy again.
